About this project

🧑🏾‍🌾 Project Overview:

EA. Aquaye Farms Ltd successfully launched Phase II of its Youth Outgrower Scheme, a strategic agribusiness development initiative aimed at empowering young farmers in Ghana. Following the success of the pilot phase, the second phase focused on deeper reach and impact, specifically targeting youth in under-resourced communities across Agona West, Mfantseman, and Twifo Atti-Morkwa Districts.

Over 120 young farmers were recruited and trained, with each participant receiving a comprehensive starter package that included:

  • Improved crop seeds (maize, okra, tomatoes)

  • Fertilizers and organic soil enhancers

  • Basic farm tools

  • On-site agronomic training

  • Access to EA. Aquaye’s extension officers

  • A guaranteed market for their harvested crops

The scheme also introduced mobile-based monitoring and a WhatsApp support group where young farmers could share insights, challenges, and access expert advice in real-time.

🎯 Impact:

  • Increased average yields per acre by 35% compared to the national smallholder average.

  • Provided seasonal employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for over 300 people indirectly.

  • Strengthened EA. Aquaye Farms' value chain by building long-term partnerships with local youth-led farms.

  • Created a success model being used to attract support from donors and agri-investors.
